Have you tried keeping your guided reading group motivated or your classroom interested in the topics they are reading about? Let's use seasonal topics to help draw kids into Non-Fiction Reading! The "All About Winter Sports" Resource has Vocabulary, Reading, and Writing Activities to use.

Part 1: Vocabulary Posters are a great way to get kids questioning and thinking about what they will be reading about. Use the "Track it Down" worksheet as you introduce these.

The power of YET!

When students do not get an A or B, they get the grade, "NOT YET." These two small words bring hope to those who struggle with the learning curve. It promotes the growth mindset rather than the fixed mindset perspective.

One way I kick of this language in my room is to post my bulletin board along with a craftivity. Check out these ideas below.

Then...

Praise wisely. Praise the process, focus, and effort. You will get hearty and resilient students.
